Yeah, I'm using Vista, but it's always worked before this.
My undo level was at 50, and it ran fine, but I tried changing it to 20, and then to 5, but no luck.

in Why is hammer so laggy? Post #233244
Okay, someone help me out with this. For some reason, Hammer 4 is really lagging badly. The weird thing is, it was working fine about 30 mins ago, now there is about a 3 second time lapse from when I click on something and when it is selected. It even happens before I load a map! the only program that seems to be effected is hammer. I'm pretty sure my computer isn't the problem either, I've got 2 gigs of ram and a dual core processor, plus a kick ass video card (if that has anything to do with it). I've done a spyware / virus scan and nothing came up, so what's the deal?

in Windows Vista Reviews Post #226848
I've been using Vista for about a month now (It came with my new comp) and the only problem I've had so far is navagating the new interface. All my games work, hammer runs fine,it doesn't hurt performance any, and it looks much nicer than XP.

Of course 2GB of RAM probably helps.

in 14 year old to be tried as terrorist Post #218271
What you mean is that China tells you that they don't execute teenagers. In China the government can kill anyone they want to, and there isn't anyone to report it. At least America is better than that.

Heh... texas meat grinder. That's where I live. ;)

Trying this kid as an adult is utterly stupid and illogical, but since when did logic enter into the America justice system? Frankly I think that the main purpose of the prison system is as a deterrent for criminals and as a place to keep dangerous people untill they aren't dangerous anymore. But if you're crazy, then neither one of these things matters to you. The kid should probably recieve some sort of therapy and some time in juvie, not a 20 year prison term. That's just dumb.

Guess who?! It's me!

Anyways, the best way to extract textures from doom and doom2 would be with XWE (eXtendable Wad Editor) You'll have to google for it, but it's by far the best. You can extract sprites, textures, sound, music, the works!

I just used thread CPR to revive my dying mod thread.

I got Spirit of HL to work (properly) and I figured out the trick to make "new monsters", so I learned to model, I'll probably have some screenshots ups soon. (Just as soon as XThost decides to work again).

P.S. Don't yell at me for being a forum necro. I thought it would be easier to revive an old thread of mine than to create an new one on the same topic. :P

The "Transforming into monsters mod" was Rocket Crowbar, and it only worked in multiplayer.

Also, a random suggestion. Not to be mean Saco, but your english isn't real great. How about having someone here sort of proof-read any text in your mod.

(I only say this because seeing text in mods like "You got an bomb use it to explode factory complex." kind of annoys me. :D

in Idea for that waterfall example Post #125979
Yeah, scroll textures only move on func_conveyors. You could use several textures with a +A and +(number 0 - 10) to make that effect, Like in the train ride in Sweet Half-Life, but make more textures so the movement isn't so jerky.

in High-Def Weapons Post #124844
You can run the autorun.exe from the Blue-Shift CD then search your Half-Life folder for the required .pak file.

pak1.pak for HL
pak2.pak for blue shift and opposing force

Sequentialy ordered pak files replace the models in a the pak file before them.

e.g:

lets say you have a file v_9mmar.mdl in the pak0.pak (the low defenition pak)
and a high-def v_9mmar.mdl in the pak1.pak, the file in the pak1.pak replaces the file in the pak0.pak.

I think that there is also a tutorial on this at TWHL. ;)

God! What is it with you people and your conspiracy theorys?! I honestly don't think that our own governments have set up staged terrorist attacks on civilians in order to gain a reson to attack some other countries! 1984 (which has been refrenced a lot in this thread) was a work of fiction. FICTION!! Yes, it was a warning to people that governments could have too much power, I did my english term paper on that subject (got a 97 by the way). But seriously, this is taking the whole liberal thing to far! I can't tell if most of you are parinoid or just stupid. Bush is not some monster out to control the lives of every american! Sure, he's made some mistakes, but he's still a hell of a lot better than that little weasel Clinton! (Anybody see "Hotel Rwanda?)

I honestly think that the terrorists deserve the brunt of the blame for these attacks, and you can try to feed my your liberalist bullsh!t, but I hope thoes bastards fry!

And what the hell is "G8", some little fantasy orginazation created to oppress the masses. There is no such thing as a super group that is trying to control our lives!

9/11, the Madrid and London attacks, their all the work of people who, instead of trying to peacfully resolve there problems, decide to attack other countries! And look how we treat them! Saddam has killed millions, and yet he is sitting in his comfy cell, eating Doritos. You damn liberals need to stop preaching for the rights of monsters like this!

Here's the new liberal moto:
This country sucks, now give me my drugs!

Honestly, you are all complaining about oppresion in the US and Europe. Why don't you go live in Iraq, theres no oppression there, right, just the looming threat that some other iraqi is going to blow up your house and himself in the process!

ARGHHHHHHH!!!

Sorry, I just needed to vent that.

But seriously, I stick by everything I just said. And yes, I am conservative. :x

in Sliding fence Post #119543
Actually, if you want the fence to move it needs to be either a func_door, or a func_train. Func_doors are easier in my opinion.

Create a rectangular brush with the fence texture, then make a brush of the same size over it with the clip texture. Make both of them the same func_door, then check "passable" in the flags. That should work. :)

Or, when you get the prototype, something goes wrong and you get teleported to another demension. (I would have suggested going to Xen, but for some reason everyone hates that place.)

Also, what kind of facility is it? Is it like Black Mesa, or is it a weapons research facility, or a teleportation research facility?

in change texture with all colors [closed] Post #117779
MMM... sausage.

The reason that this happens (the color in the textures thing) is that the textures have their own paletts, or pallets, or something like that... anyways, it forces the texture to use only certaint colors, the best may I have found around this is to open the texture up in paint (really freakin old) and then select all of it, open another new picture in paint with the same deminsions and paste it into the new one, this will remove the pallet, or palett... whatever. The only problem is that paint has trouble saving pictures in 264 bit color, so if the texture is for a HL model (it must be 264 bit color.) copy it into wally, then export it as a bmp. Then you can use it in a model.

I bet there is a simpler way of doing this, but I don't know it. :P

which is my custom wad. The wad works fine when I don't use wadinclude, so I think I might have set it up wrong, any suggestions? :(

Yeah, Zat_AJ, if the infodecal's texture doesn't specify a decal (a texture in the decals.wad, that begins with a {, for example {bigblood1) then it wont be displayed in the map. As for some of them not working but others working ok, make sure that you're only using decal textures, other than that I have no idea whats happening.
