in Wireless Network, can't connect Post #275844
So far there's no security as we just set it up to see if I could connect to it. It's not a laptop, it's my computer which has wireless and distance doesn't seem to be the issue.

in Wireless Network, can't connect Post #275811
I recently put in my new NetGear WG311T PCI Card, having the drivers installed before doing so. I am unable to connect to my dads and sisters wireless network. I am new to connecting to a wireless network so advice would be appreciated.

Info that may help
Card installed: NetGear WG311T
Driver version: 4.1.2.150
OS: Windows XP Professional 32bit

Used to dual boot XP and Vista but that's been changed to XP and W7. So far so good, but been having these BSOD's that don't happen all the time, but occur when I boot from sleep mode.

in CoD: WaW can't host in Windows 7 Post #275582
All of us are running outdated versions. Windows firewall is off. ESET's firewall isn't affecting this as I've tried disabling it too. It's weird as I can host Multiplayer games, just not co-op. On XP, as I said before, has no problems whatsoever when hosting co-op. It could be some compatibility issue like I had when I tried hosting on Vista, but then again, I have no idea.

In terms of switching to Windows 7, I used to use ESET 3 but that had compatibility issues. You'll need to get 4 (if you haven't already) as it can be run without problems on Windows 7.

in CoD: WaW can't host in Windows 7 Post #275572
Well as the subject says, I'm unable to host co-op mode whilst in Windows 7. Running this under my XP partition works fine.

Info that may help
-Multiplayer works (Dedicated server)
-Firewall (ESET Smart Security 4) set to interactive, have allowed friends IP's.
-Using Hamachi 1.0.5.1 (newer versions don't work with this)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
CoD Version: 1.0

in Desktop PC wireless internet Post #274852
My dad came to me asking about making a desktop PC have wireless internet connection. All I know right now is that you can use a PCI card that'll do the job. Question:

Does the PCI card have to match the router/modem (say they both have to be from NetGear - as that is my case)?

Note: Not planning to use a USB adapter as according to some people, it gets very hot.

in Optimize Crysis performance Post #274741
After being sick of running Crysis with a low frame rate, I decided to look around for something to improve performance whilst maintaining a frame rate above 20 frames. I stumbled upon Cuban Ultima Doom Arch Assassin Taowolf Sword's Custom Crysis Config v2.21

This config contains 6 levels of quality and an improved ToD (Time of Day) which adds more realism. To anyone who has Crysis this is a must as it really does improve performance and image quality. (For those who also have Warhead, there's an optimizer on that page).

in Hammer 34/3.5 hating Ati Drivers fix Post #273682
MAJOR OMGWTFBBQ EDIT:
Only realised now that yes, it has smooth performance but it retains the 'can't select stuff in the 3d view'. Mod close this please, didn't realise it didn't fix the actual problem. :S
Stupid moment +1

For starters, I'm guessing this isn't the place to put this topic. Secondly I know many people have already been suggesting other fixes to this but I'd like to share mine (which surprisingly works fine for me).

How I fixed mine (under XP) was I got the 'atioglxx.dll' from the system32 folder (for those who don't know where that is: Windows/system32) and placed it into my Hammer folder. So far, viewing a large map with texture filter on runs smooth.

Hope that helps anyone using an Ati card w/ the latest drivers.

@Huntey:
The graphics are on Very High @ 1600 x 900 with 8x AA and I don't really have any stuttering issues as I'm running this on XP and am getting at around 23-28fps. The reason it looks funny is that Photbucket resized it and I don't have a clue on how to prevent it from doing that.

@hotdog:
Found out myself by playing Frontlines... it does come from Frontlines.

Lastly, just to confirm, it is Crysis.

in TWHL's Classic DM Server Post #271841
It's not AMX itself, it's your keyboard binds. Half-Life doesn't set weapon slot's 6-10, as there is no weapon slots 6-10 in the game, so you basically need to bind them.

So number 6 = "slot6", number 7 = "slot7" and so on. For 0 on the menu you need to bind 0 to "slot10"

in AGPx8 Card running at PCI settings? Post #267870
I've recently looked at what GPU-Z said about my 6800XT and it's a bit weird to me. It says it's an AGP x8 card yet it's running at PCI settings.

Eh?

PC World Australia said something about changing the speed in the BIOS to whatever maxium speed the card supports, but is it really okay to do so...? Just a bit paranoid due to last incident when I unlocked some pipelines which ended up with 50 billion BSOD's and other crashes.

It's funny how only now I remember the nVidia Promotion. Well I got HL2 deathmatch and I'm gong to burn it onto a DVD for a friend (rather than him download it at painful speeds). What I need to know is what GCF files does HL2 DM use as my friend has no steam games and I'm pretty I'll leave some out if I don't ask.

in Sound issues Post #263304
Lately my friend's computer has been playing up. Such events include losing internet connection (he had to "install" the internet again, which I don't understand) and now has lost sound. He has tried installing the drivers again but it hasn't worked. System restore hasn't helped either. Specs:

Motherboard: GA-P31-DS3L
Current 'culprit': Realtek HD Audio (on-board)

Realtek HD Audio is displayed with an exclamation mark in device manager.

Ok, for my mod I'm making I'm trying to get the alien blood to be red but obviously I have some problems. First, I know where the blood for humans are but where's the alien one? Do they use the same blood but coded in a way to make it yellow? If it's in the sprites folder can you tell me where it is...? :| Also, if the above doesn't work or if it's not possible to find it, does changing it require coding? Thanks if you can help. :|
