Heres a little waiting game for you all to play with whilst my mods are still in production. Its a small map set in a competition style. Around this map there are 5 hidden letters. These letters make up the name of my upcoming demo mod entitled HL:*****. You must find all 5 letters and create the name of my mod. The letters are in the order that they are in the map. (e.g. the letter closest to the start of the level is the mods first letter and the letter closest to the end of the map is the last one in the title.) The map WILL require the occasional back-track.
If you get to the end of the level and you have less than 5 letters you've missed some and will have to start again. Once your positive you have the name of the mod E-mail it to me. The the names of the people with the correct answers will be put into a hat for a prize draw. The winner will recieve the Mod prior to its final release for reviewing and / or constructive critisizm and ideas. You will then be added to the credits as a 'playtester and critic.' Nothing major.

Also search for a brush with more than 32 faces, such as a cylinder in the Maxpoints error. Otherwise this error means you went over the limit of the number of planes allowed. This means too many faces in the map = too many brushes, or too complex ones. Time to trim back the level map! Some solutions: Do not put a box around your map to fight leaks. Seal each section seperately and fight the leak war. Try to line up the faces of brushes with the same texture at the same scale. Then the engine may make them into one face plane. Avoid detail brushes, use texture to "fake it" instead. Plain make fewer brushes. Keep construction simple. HL and complexity mix poorly. There are some newer compiler programs being tested that remove unused and unneeded planes from the outside of a level. You could try to get and use one of them. "

Mine was the original - Abandoned has only come about with n00by Source maps, but this is a HL1 map, and is quite original, non-n00by, and the name actually fits.

Okay, here we go!
Its brilliant! There were four problems i noticed.
1. There is a space in the name!!!ack! 2. The lighitng is HORRIBLE! sooo bright! tone it down a bit. 3. The fan is not going at a fast enough speed by the time the railing goes back into the wall. delay that. 4. The little bit on top of the gun doesnt move with it...
This is however a fantastic example of many great techniques and it just gets that extra 'oomph' because its killin scientists!

Oh yeah, at least say SOMETHING, like "it's for HL2" or something. My description: a long giant hall filled with HL2 zombies and HL2 headcrabs. And you kill them all. Guess that's what you mean by "monster_mash".

Description and screenshot might be handy. Use one of the screenshots included in your zip, and describe the map. Don't get people guessing, and "any death match" isn't a really good substitute for your missing description.

Oh noes, hate!
Perhaps I could fix that up for you and I could get a 5 :O!
I suppose I could do it. I suppose you mean that you shoot one bit of the glass and it all breaks at once? It's just a bit of lazyness on my behalf of not making each one a seperate entity. I will fix it when I have the time.
This map was submitted for the machine comp (got special mention), but it has been fixed up and modified for HLDM.
As I said, look out for a Source port - This map seems perfect for the engine.

Just checked, my weebl map is in the unfinished section ... can't remember why I put it there, but meh. There is another of my maps in the finished section though, de_bombspotting, check it out too. It sucks
it does not look like a TREE....
That aside, looks really cool. Reminds me of the old french castle inside the walls of Fort Niagara. I've been thinking of doing a map of it myself.
Finish!
Just what I needed..
I'm a fan of Weebl & Bob, but my archnemesis Steam wasnt a fan of me (my Wee Bull)

on snarkpit and there are like 5 others called that
Perhaps you could use another name so people don't get confused :S
We weren't all born with your super talent of making HL1 maps look like HL2 >:(
and btw, smash, your on the right track. Keep at it.

Thanks for the comment. Mucho appreciated.
I did I Weebl-themed CS map (HL1) ages ago, it's on here somewhere, probably a few pages back.
When I'm finished with my latest project (which already has and is gonna take freakin' months longer) I'm gonna do a HL2 Weebl map too.
If you're on the Weebl forums, give me a shout. My username is the same over there as it is here.
I thought this was such a kewl map for LANing with friends, especially if you like being all stealthy
The only thing I completely HATED , is that you didn't fix the glass.
It breaks in huge sections with no gibs.
And I don't know if I'm the only one with that problem, so let me know !
But on the whole, great map ! 4/5 (the glass took off 1 *)
