As has been said before, some maps were of poor quality but some are really good. Legacy was definitely the best visual map. Also, the WW1 map was really a different setting that I liked... and how the scientist finally showed up... made me smile...

Yeah, the Hi-Def pack is great. The Disco Party is, indeed, a parody, so it's not supposed to seem realistic and make sense. It's just to give someone a fun map to play around in and a few good laughs.

Very good, except it looks kind of daft when the sharks water drains and they 'hop' around. Also the corridor leadind outside looks abit small and boring. But your well on your way to becoming a good mapper Mr Ieatmonkeychow!

just a few pointers UberBender. Never allow the player to get weapons before getting the HEV suit. Second make the place look as thought it was not built for simply killing aliens and third place the Enemies sparingly and in more suitable positions. Aside from that you know what you are doing, so keep practising!

my first map was a box room with a door that opened into nothing, and the ceiling was messed up anyway. I forgot the light the first time, then I just put one in teh middle of the room, lol. That was a while ago!

I gave an honest try at fixing this map, but there is just too much wrong with it. It is too large, as Anthony noted. I was able to fix the 'brush outside world' errors by moving the entire map up towards the center of the grid. But then came the coplanar errors, too many to mention but i got them all deleted and then the leaks showed up. After that I gave up. You should create a smaller area to work in, and compile often to find problems and fix them before moving on.

I do plan on making a mod with this, so how could I create an install program that would include all the necessary files, rather than making a huge .zip file? I know that there are some install programs out there, but I was wondering what would be the best one, or if that would even be the best method . . .

Sorry about that. When I compiled it, rain.wad was in my texture list, and even though I didn't use it in the map, it assumes that it needs it in order to play. You can get it in the rain tutorial's example map, or if I decide to make a version 1.2, I'll be sure to remove rain.wad from my list.

This map os far too large for Half-Life to handle! You have to make it much smaller than this otherwise there's little hope that it will compile successfully.

Your landscape could be better. Have a look at the landscape tut on this site, the one with all teh triangles. Its really cool, slows the map down a bunch, but gets you a great result. flat ground maps are very unrealistic, but other than that, great job, oh and nice sky, I've never seen that before, and don't call me an idiot if that came with HL
