The front keys always reminded me of a CD player button, especially on more expensive Sony models. Looking how the hands look like hard drive platter readers made me think that the valve team behind the Half Life game had many more ideas and expectations and we only saw a bit of it in the final game.

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People foremost want things to be functional for the actions they will commit. Technology now days is extremely versatile and powerful, it is junk software, microcomputer program, that is lacking.

A 400MHz DSP microchip (Middle class , from 2010) with 64Megs of RAM can decode an 192kHz 24Bit resolution FLAC file, run Linux, operate a network connection both wired and wireless, decode an incoming multichannel audio stream, access an 1TB+ NTFS partition and operate an steady control and communication of all the audio i/o as well as communication with the main microcomputer all at the same time. How? Thanks to properly written software to utilize all that.

Hardware is light years ahead of what was 20 years ago all in the hands of an average person , while on the other hand even with newer more powerful development environments software is still falling behind and it is increasing hyper production with addition of planned obsolescence that mostly contributed to that , but the real reason is "secured money" and nothing else.

Its not about the upgrade or the way things would look, its about the principle of operation that all these things fall under. In 2009 I had an Toshiba laptop with Pentum II and 256MB of RAM. I could watch youtube and browse the internet with out any problems. Back in the day, in the 90s, an plain looking HTML website could have had an active chatbox or even highly complex web pages so thats not an excuse. ActiveX was powerful.
All webpages are gonna look like they're from 1995, lmao.
TWHL3 was a classic example of a 90s web page and no one complained.

You probably dont remember because you were younger, but there was just as much multimedia content on the web back then as there is today, only it was distributes as Macromedia flash, gifs, avi videos, etc.

It is lack of talent, patience and will to make something polished and correct that brought to this, that is, the love for money overshadowed all of the rest.

They need the extra system requirements in order to monetize hyper production , back in the day a 3D polygonal game such as Unreal Tournament ran on 200MHz and 32Megs of RAM and had great movement, aim and collision precision, and the graphics were pretty rad too (still are). Excuses? None.

To this day iE is still used for renewing smart card certificates and work with sensitive documents used in Banking, Medical and Government facilities , at least from what I see here in Serbia. I also used it heavily during my faculty days and would have continued to do so if Youtube didnt make it obsolete along side slow rendering of Java and all the other junk they have on web pages today (HTML 1.0 ftw).

Commented 3 months ago2020-04-30 21:26:25 UTC in wiki page: Tutorial: Render Properties Comment #102695
Render mode Color , or Pure Color in cs hex fgd , must be used with an "visible" texture. If an "invisible" texture is used like null, bevel, or even aaatrigger, the compiler will make it drawn invisible. aaatriger for example works in the oldest tool set and maybe in zoner tools 3.4 but definitely not in vhlt tools as it removes these entities visually.
Best to keep it a non special texture for it to work properly.

The retail model is clearly high tech, I would like to know what Half Life would have looked like if it went more story indepth rpg like.

You know well this world cares not of another but what can that other complete and achieve. If your daughter can become a professional at something and hold up to those standards she wont have any problems with anybody. Even if that would not be the case nobody here who cares about someone was left all alone, even terrible people have somebody to share their mind with.

Make sure you be the parents she needs to have , not in terms of finances , but in terms of sacrifice , and if so I doubt she will ever turn out not right.

My belief is while they are little children it is always their parents fault for how do they turn out, but once they grow up they must be aware themselves, parents can not be blamed forever.
I hope you will find resolve to spend as much time as possible with her each and every day.

Besides the regular - like checking which RAM slot really goes first (mislabeling regularly on these newer machines) - make sure your motherboad BIOS is at least 1405 for it to support that CPU.
Also some graphics cards have a switch on them to switch between UEFI and Legacy BIOS. If your card is set to legacy bios it will not boot on this machine,

@Brollo - Intel is known for fake benchmarks, programs solely optimized for it and reselling/recycling the same old for decades. I know intel will go rev up the world cpu cylinders once it catches up properly onto the new modern technology, but until then I am glad AMD is finally kicking its ass. Soon it will all be much more balanced for AMD.

Also, dont expect proper performance with the lower end chipsets, especially if you do not have a reliable, accurate power supply. The most important thing to properly function in anything is energy. If your computer eats badly it will perform badly. Electricity is its food, if you ate crap too you wouldnt do so well your self either :)

What I like from all the modern hardware so far is the display of new faster data buses, laptops will become much more faster.
  • Edit -
For some interesting reference to proper power supply and top Chipset importance I can present my personal computer I am still using to this day (aside from this laptop). It is an Dell Vostro 220 Intel G45 chipset with Intel Quad Core Q6600 (with tape mod - To fool the motherboard into overcloking it) and an Enermax Liberty power supply (Absolutely stable at 12.032V at all loads , multimeter tests done as well). With out that power supply performance drastically deteriorates. I could not believe how important proper grounding and power supply was before. Ive been running this setup for five years now. I also see the same thing in customer computers with crappy vs performer power supplies .

made the mistake of believing the bullshit that Ryzen is only barely worse off than the at the time "equivalent" 7700-8700k, and bought a $500 Ryzen 2700x.
It performed about as badly as my now 10 year old Phenom II 1090t I upgraded from.
Huh, thats interesting. What motherboard did you get at the time of running those tests?
