I'm working on something like this myself too (still very WiP):

That bridge and those shadows are undoubtedly sexy.
Gonna playtest it right now!

Also: Wpolies: Yes

EDIT: Ok I've played it.

Pros:

+ Detail wise it's great on the bridge part;
+ Weapon placement is fine.

Cons:

- Performance is a bit low on some areas (got 87 fps lowest);
- Found a part where you get stuck on a window after breaking it (consider clipping it maybe):
bruhbruh
Improvements:
  • The map could use a bit more decal-like textures, especially on the main building walls outside to remove the tiling effect;
  • Consider adding an underpassage of some sort below the bridge, maybe?
All in all it's a pretty cool map Archio. Bravo. :crowbar:

Yeah, just map it like you would do if it was a part of the map, then keep only the part you want as the skybox and save it as another .rmf/.jmf.
Compile it with at least one light or one info_player_start/deathmatch anywhere in the map, and lastly open it with Crafty/Object Viewer and export it as .obj. From that you can import it in whatever modeling program you use, fix all the stuff you want to fix or add and compile it. :crowbar:

Just keep in mind that the .obj will be rotated 90° in the modeling program, and you should pay attention to the model's origin placement in the map so that it receives light, otherwise it'll be pitch black.
Commented 3 years ago2020-12-29 17:53:00 UTC in vault item: de_109 Comment #103157
You should try to create your skybox as brushes directly in the map, and then convert it to a single model.

When you say that JACK, TB and Hammer can be used, you mean that we can use the standard GoldSRC configuration to map for it? Because JACK supports Quake 3 mapping which has some differences like the way you can manipulate the UV map to round a texture on a curved plane, something that the GoldSRC configuration doesn't have (unless it can be added/hacked in it).

By the way, great job my friend! :crowbar:

I'd go for Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn.

Happy 25th birthday, my baguettian friend!
You've been baguetted!You've been baguetted!
I'd personally go on my Steam account, block and remove him from my friends' list if I was you, to be honest. This is definitely not friendship at all.
Always remember than only you are in control of your life, not him. The only thing we can control is ourselves, not the others, so he just can't do that, if he can then that means that you're letting him do it.

Keep your eyes open.

And welcome to TWHL! :crowbar:

My 20 years old siamese female cat passed away as well the 18th of June this year.
She has been in my family since when I was 10, now I'm 30. So I feel you...
LillyLilly
She's been buried in my grandmother's yard so I can go see her whenever I want.

Cat lovers will always suffer for their little friends...

No I meant 1024. Like, they have to be shared by both sides, making the max 512x512 to be equally long. Or 768x256, etc... Basically the sum of both sides doesn't have to exceed 1024 pixels.
Commented 3 years ago2020-06-19 21:55:20 UTC in vault item: Textures up to 544x544 Comment #102754
That caught me off guard. I thought that the limit was 1024 pixels across both sides. How does that work?

She's absolutely beautiful. And she also looks a lot like you!

I'm really sorry for what you're experiencing, but that's life I guess...
She's your daughter anyway, and from what I've seen you're a positive person. The only thing no one and nothing can ever take away from you is your love for her; which is the most important thing a father can have in life in my opinion.

Lots of hugs to you, your family, and your lovely little sweetheart.

(Sorry for the late reply, I've been a bit busy  )

Yup. Same here. "fps_max 0" (or 9999) in the console.

Also don't get a 120Hz, get a 144Hz instead since the price tag is literally the same if not lower (and the choice is better).

About the optical drive, you could get an USB external one since it's versatile. Plug it in when you need it, plug it off when you don't need it.
Commented 4 years ago2019-06-03 13:17:07 UTC in journal: Gaming PC for my son Comment #102052
Fair enough.

I have this kind of rule though: The more you spend, the less you spend.
Which means that if you spend more now, you'll have to spend less in the future to keep up with the requirements each game and program has (it lasts more basically).
But as of now, wether this will be his first PC or not, it's still a really good piece of equipment and if I was him I would be undoubtedly happy to have it as my first PC.

Oh and, I do agree with Pengiunboy about replacing the GTX 1060 with a GTX 1660 which is almost as good as a GTX 1070 and it has 6GB of VRAM.

Looks pretty solid. What about hard drives/SSDs, monitor, keyboard and mouse? A good monitor and a fast storage are important nowadays.
Consider Intel Optane and M.2 SSDs since that mobo has two M.2 slots.

I've hosted the PS2 Menu Theme on the TWHL's Discord server.

Download it and place it in the Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\valve\media folder to have your fancy HL PS2 menu music on PC.

I had HL for PS2 (and finished it), it was actually good but very laggy in some spots. The cool part was Decay.

Go for 4 gigs actually. You can get 2 modules with 2 gigs each (better) or a single 4 gigs one.

About that screw, there's a method I always use when I face such problem. Use a nipper of this type:

Or this type:

And just use it to unscrew the screw by grabbing it from its sides and turn the nipper. A bit of a hassle but that'll do.

And holy shit clean that mess lol.

Well, I don't know since I ain't made it.
The guy behind the mod is called Andreas "ruMpel" Rönnberg and he made all the custom content. The only things I've done there are new textures and maps (though I'm not in the original mod development in any way).

@Ghost129er: it's called Black Dog (original uh?), they're enemies from Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut. They replaces Houndeyes.

@Strider: It's a horror mod I'm developing for Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut. Just a "test mod" before the definitive standalone one (it will have twice as the detail you see there). The next 3 screenshots are part of the same map. :)
