that is near the top in the list of bad executive decisions. but i will still buy at launch, i will still call it a revolution, and i will buy one of those stickers (that i am absolutely sure will be made) that say revolution and you put over the wii title.

wait, this is for source?! w0w, it looks from the screenie that it's a hl1 map. in that case, use displacements and blend textures to make watever it is your making.

there will be tutorials on how to do this as soon as Ant gets time to mark them up :P

oh noes! prefabs are like 17kb btw lol.
a rmf for a full map which is like, 1.5mb zips down to 97% or something like that.
prefabs get bigger bcus idiots submits useless .BSP's with the .RMF as well :)

say i wanted to update one of my maps, but it is rather large, and other people who have the old map want the new one, without redownloading the whole thing.
is there a program where i can compare the 2 files, and make a file which contains all the changes to the new map compared to the old one, and send that update to the ppl with the old map, and they use the same program to merge the update with the old so they have the updated map. (this is all theoretical - it could be any file, dont worry about file structures etc.)
basically i want to make a 'patch' for a file (a singular file).
is there a program that can do this?

VHE is the only editor for CS :)
try these (in this order)
1. hit f9 and click OK, then try again.
2. try making your .bsp directory shorter (like C:maps) and see if that changes anything...make sure 'dont run the game after compiling' is checked
3. check your setup

i really think that valve should let free 3rd party mods available through steam. i read somewhere there is a p2p file system embedded in one of the steam .dll's - this could be for 3rd party mod sharing in the future, but i want it now! lol.

hl2dm is wayyy better than CS because:
1. in cs, the physics are pointless, it creates more bugs. in hl2dm, the physics is integrated into the gameplay and is much less buggy.
2. hl2dm has much less n00bcaeks and i have never heard a mic spammer in my hl2dm'ing life.
3. GRAV GUN!

done all the normal stuff - opened ports, firewall etc. and made sure steam can connect to the internet?
also check the bandwidth monitor and see if steam is doing anything.
if all this fails, check the steam forums, if nothing, move the gcf to another place (restart steam) and see if you can install the game from steam again.

You are to create a post-disaster version of the provided base map by modifying brushwork, lighting, ambience etc.
it seems you cant edit textures, unless they are 'destroyed' versions of the original ones. think about it, if a building was destroyed, the walls just wouldnt magically change from say, for example, bricks to plasterboard.

but if a competition official were to permit changing of textures, i would be all for it :P
