I'm making a new map with some sewers. Just like the ones in your tutorial. Everything ok, but one thing keeps pondering me: How can i make 45 degree turns in my sewers and still keep them real-lookin??? I've tried lots of methods, first i pasted a part of the sewer, rotated it, then took one half of the sewer wall and tried to put it in the gap. THAT looked crappy ... Then i tried Rotating the second part and putting it near the next one, so that there would be no gap and then cut the edges, but then i got leaks! Tell me a good method on doing this, I'm desparate!
Wrong link on tommy14, seventh... Page not found Anywho, i loaded the pointfile on my map, i have those black spots on lots of walls, how do i find out which one is the leak-infested one? Those spots go in zigzags in some open areas with no walls!
Start > Search > for files or folders > write "sentences.txt" in the search for window.. PRESTO! If you have such a file, like sentences.txt it will find it, if you don't - reinstall HL. E A S Y
Ok... So just find the folder from which you take the sounds for your maps.. I mean that you possibly can't do it only with goal.wav And if it's not there, try finding it with find files or folders...
I've created a big map, and once i've compiled it i saw that it has about 10 leaks! How the hell can i find them?? Is there any utility to find them? I've heard about something like "leakfinder", so does that exist?
Weeell... about the goal.wav - it's the same with me... Do you have CS? Try the csstrike or sound folders if you have them... With some versions of HL (It depends on the package you are installing it from), the main directory is in counter-strike... Apparently our versions don't mach...
Path tool.. Hmmmmmm... I nver understood how that works anyway... I still use the lightbulb.... I make 1 path_track and paste it all over the track and rename it manually. Takes longer, but it works...
I don't think, that a few lights would increase your ping so much, that you couldn't play... Try installing at least one light in the darkest areas of your map. :
Do you use a custom wad for your map? If you do and if you have wally, then why not try resizing the textures... Make them smaller as many times as u need and make a new wad with the resized textures..
Hi everyone! I just thought this one out: How do you make those alien-pods that shoot you high in the air from HL1?? I mean theres no such thing in the entities like: func_alien_pod_that_shoots_you_in_the_air (Don't mind the entity name, i'm just tryin to guess :P) So really.. How do i make theese pods? Is it possible to add one in a CS map? Why not make a tutorial on this?
Hi everyone! I've read your tutorial on rain and i don't think that I would be able to place all those func_conveyors on a bigger map... The r_speeds would go crazy! I looked through all the entities and found env_rain... How do i use this?
Hey! i've already got hl model wiewer and i wonder if there is something like this for hl2 and if you know, maybe you could give me a link, where to download it... and i'd also like 2 know, where to get sprite wiewer and where to download it...
Hi every1! I just logged in the first time and i got a really stupid problem...
I'm a starting mapper, i read your tutorials, started working on my first CS map... everything OK.. until i added ambient_generics in my map. :
The compiling was allright, but the map itself doesn't run.. When the map starts loading the console writes unable to find sound/c!
I tried to fix the entity, but it still didnt work, and i used sounds from the ambience folder. I mean the waws cant be wrong when they work on other maps!
Can anyone tel me what to do? Im desparate! my maps will be soundles!!!!!!
