Happy birthday!

Time passes way to fast, but such is life unfortunately. Happy that you still come around!

Ah, the quadryear has passed since I've last posted!

Ye members, I am very happy to see your return against all this internet death.
Yet, we prevail.
We shall carry the old internet ways with us, for they are more resilient.

Puts hands around the beacon with dwindling light
warms the beacon

Hey Potatis, if I ever visit Malta, I hope I will remember! As for Sweden, idk, when I think of visiting the Scandinavian countries I mostly think of Norway, fjords etc. Thanks.

Meerjel, hope you country does well.

I just randomly checked today TWHL and because of the recent notification I came here and saw that I forgot to thank you guys :).

SSC_TAS, multumesc ;). I'm also happy to hear that you succeeded in studying abroad. Best of luck to you!
My view of Romania is still one of cautious optimism. Ever since I became aware of institutional and infrastructure importance in a country, which means somewhere around ten years ago, I've seen progress at least in some parts. Many things, like urban planning, have been done in questionable and sometimes awful ways - yet - most of the people around me who put an effort in their life live better than they did a decade ago.
Of course, there's much more to be improved. The west has served us both as a model and a cautionary tale and we're at a sensible point where things can go wrong or where we can build a healthy nation.

I saw people talking about the deathmatch server, but where is that? In the past there was a link on the frontpage I think.

As for the map, delicious clean architecture and texturing in the Rimrookian style we're used to :D.

Mountain hikes are always agonizing, but somehow always worth it. The inner peace you get having that view at the tops is unique.

@Urby: What do you mean "gives us free access". Do you have to pay to go on hikes in UK? :O

You can at least rest assured that you tried. There's always the possibility to play simulators with VR in your spare time, so you can still have this hobby in a safe manner.

Good luck with your new medical practice!

You're a Valve's own Nostradamus haha!

Unfortunately, I did have the curiosity to scroll and see if I left a comment. I did. The image is not available anymore but I know exactly the photo which prompted a short expedition through dusty folders on a dusty backup drive where I had an imageshack backup (that service is long gone I think).

The image was this:

[EDIT] Well on a sober 2nd thought, maybe not.

To be fair, Urby brings most people to tears when they look at him.
Tears of laughter, I suppose.

Welcome back, ThatGuy4878! I don't remember you very well, unfortunately, but it's nice to see that lots of people still come back to TWHL. I do too, I used to look up to a few guys around here and it felt like my home community on the internet for a long time. For that reason it's still my 1st tab opened in Firefox on my home computer. I plan on coming back here until at least 2027!

Congratulations on your successes and stay around for a while!

Winter is always better with people around. The smell of oranges, cinnamon apple pie etc.
Get some vitamin D supplements and antioxidants from berries. You live in the country of blueberries, should be easy for you.

Otherwise, tbh I understand you when it comes to December at least.

For me, the beginning of the cold season is at last a mental break for me. I finally feel at peace inside and enjoy reading etc. During summer or during winter when there's snow on the slopes I always feel quite guilty if I don't do or plan some outside activity, or plan to travel somewhere.

Damn, British people really need to invest a lot of effort just to take a Bath.
Anyway, a happy stinky birthday, Andy!
Archie said:nobody is ever going to Bath
Well maybe someday I will. I plan some time in my life to come to London and take a rented cruiser from there and visit UK around. Although maybe you're right, it would be much more fun to go towards the north, maybe visit the Lagavulin distillery.

Again, for goodness sake take a bath man, but happy BIRTHDAY!!!!!

I haven't known your dramas around here so I don't probably care about those. Stojke put it into good words. What I can add is something I heard in Dune - Life is not a question to be answered, it's a process to be experienced. There's no point in coming here anymore if you don't feel like it, but maybe your curiosity will bring you back in the future at some point. It brings me back, TWHL still is my first tab since 2007 in Firefox :).

Farewell dear TWHLer, and best of luck in life!

Commented 3 years ago2021-11-20 22:41:08 UTC in journal: Gamingparents.org Comment #103844
In now know people from highschool/college who have kids.
It's almost weird to play games (well, I don't actually do that very often either... but form time to time maybe I'll give CS:GO another try) with them because the following situation arises in my mind:
"If I had kids, wouldn't I feel guilty playing games? Would I have time?"

I can't answer yet that question :)). But what I know, observing them, is that after you get married your personal free time is significantly cut, and "free time activities" are all of a sudden a family project :). So when somebody with kids plays a multiplayer game with you, it's probably a special occasion.

You know what's funny, I think by the time we retire and TWHL is still present, the submission timeframe will again be lowered to about a month or two.

With that being said, at last I'll have the courage to produce something too for this compo.

@Testsu0, sure! I'll wait for the package though and then practice a bit more since I'm not sufficiently skilled to play with someone yet, and I'll give you a notice. I sometimes go to Jamplay for some tips and tricks, there are some very awesome teachers there!

@NineTnine, JR is funny and often times it amuses me a lot to see how astonished he is at some piece of new info (ofc, I assume a lot is a bit of theatre).

@Oskar Potatis, you are correct. Thank you! :D

Maybe after you get some professional experience you can come back and tell us, or do a vlog about how level design is done professionally and how having worked with Hammer for years has helped you transfer your skills there, comparisons etc.
