yea well i made the blocks 512x512 and it would take a year and a half to light it so its a bit hard to see.

domes the easy way:
1. make an anticube (solid ouside with a hollow cube inside)

2. split in half but keep both halves
3. select all inside sides
4. make displacements
5. subdivide
6. delete bottom half
7. dome!

it takes some getting used to, but to upload a file:
1. login
2. navigate to the 'Page Manager' (if you have a page open to edit click the link near the top left, or just go here: http://pages.google.com/manager/ )
3. on the right side of that page there is a column of 'uploaded stuff', click 'upload' at the bottom of that column, browse for the file and wait for it to upload!
4. then you can link anyone you want to the file. etc etc

if you have a gmail account google pages gives you 100mb free hosting, otherwise see if your ISP provides webspace and use that, otherwise rapidshare or something, unless someone is nice enough to provide webspace for you. also, is it 2.7MB zipped? because you can post zips here too

you dont need to know - basically i think you need to have the map so that the player stands in the exact location of where that screen was taken and sees the whole map, ummm watever

yes i mapped the TWHL logo.
i think that a mapping site should be represented from a mapping view.
its a straight-from-hammer camera view screenshot.
the lighted version didnt have the right colours so i used this one.
if anyone wants a pic of the compiled version just say so

if its in your used textures list it must be on something.
try replacing all instances of that texture with something else and see if the block changes texture too.
else try the old copy all and paste into a new rmf...

oh, and use jpegs next time. that in-game screen is about 10 times as big as a jpeg would be.

did you open up source sdk, set game to hl2dm and load hammer?
anyway, i recommend VTFEdit.
yow
1) import image and save to vtf
2) save to your specified directory e.g. steamapps/username/hl2dm/materials
3) go to tools -> create vmt file
4) if not already in there, browse for the vtf file you just made in the 'base texture 1' textbox
5) click create and save to the same directory as the vtf.
6) close vmt window and done!

yes, well even though UHA has a better compression ratio, it isnt very versatile since not many people have it :P
great for backups tho.

since winrar opens the 7-zip files, i think 7-zip is the best - i would even go as far to say that .rar and .7z compressed maps should be allowed to be uploaded to the map vault
well...rar at least :)

anyway, i wanted to know the info for myself, and i thought i may as well post the results here :D
