I get up at 6AM, leave home at 7AM, travel 90 minutes on the train to work, and get home at 6:45. When I get home I do more work (freelance jobs) and then spend 60-90 minutes studying. I still usually get enough sleep but I definitely don't get enough time for playing games

If you want to continue programming (and not go down the game dev route), I suggest you get yourself into a large(ish) corporation doing internal company development instead. Should be a MUCH better work environment. As Daub said, dealing with small business clients is just terrible, much better to work for corps who actually know what they want. (...well, most of the time)

I find (b|v)logs where they just have stupid shit (or people talking about nothing particularly interesting) quite boring. When I write (no videos for me), I want it to be about something at least a little meaningful. I write on invert-x as a sort-of-blog, not to tell people about my boring life, but to express and explain a point of view on a particular topic. Some people might not agree with your point, but that's how you spark conversation and community involvement (not that ix has been successful at that so far :P).
Now I haven't seen any of your stuff besides the MOTM reviews so I don't know if your stuff applies or not MOTMs are good because they have a clear purpose in mind and are nice and informative.
But yeah, most of the time "goofing around in games" is only mildly (if at all) amusing to almost every person aside from the people who were playing the game at the time. Anyway, I like games but I prefer to watch the likes of Extra Credits than random British people playing Counter-Strike

@CapT and other Americans: Does all American Chinese food come in those little paper boxes that you see on a lot of TV shows? I can't imagine you get much variety if it's just mostly those weird noodles. In Australia it's almost always in plastic containers and you need to order several different things and share them between yourselves. If you tried to put our Chinese food in a paper box, it would leak everywhere because it's usually quite heavy on the sauce. Either way, not really a fan of Chinese food takeaway, too unhealthy and not even all that tasty. An Indian curry, on the other hand...

I don't really understand what you're asking...surely linear progression is one of the simplest things in programming. Especially in only one dimension.
In case that's really what you're asking:
If you have a value x in the range between a and b, x is [x/(b-a)] distance from a. If you have another range from c to d, you can get an equivalent point y in that range with y = c+[distance*(d-c)]
Of course distance will need to be a floating point number because it's between 0 and 1.

In Australia (and I assume other southern-hemisphere places), the school year is the same as the calendar year. That way there's still a "summer holiday".

Another reminder to everybody that backing your stuff up is important! Upload it to your web hosting, store it on an external drive, put it on a different computer...do whatever you need to do to get your important files backed up! Don't bother with stuff that can be re-downloaded like games or movies or anything like that, just the stuff you've actually created. For me, I keep all my programming work on my web hosting in an SVN repo. Don't leave it until tomorrow lest your HDD break like TJB's did!

Linux is actually a clone of the Unix operating system, it's not derived from Unix exactly. It's described as a "Unix-like" system.
And srry, please don't call it GNU/Linux. Stallman is a jackass and nobody should listen to him
GNU as it currently stands is only the utilities and tools that are included in pretty much every distro of Linux and other Unix-like systems. All Linux distros include both GNU and non-GNU software, while a true GNU system would not include non-GNU software.
The actual GNU kernel (and therefore the operating system as a whole as that is fully dependant on the kernel) is in alpha stage and has been in development for almost 20 years. Aside from that most of your stuff is right.

I have 5TB and I've used about 50% The most recent drives I bought were the Samsung SpinPoint models as well, they seem to be working quite well. I was sick of the Seagates breaking on me, let's hope these ones don't do the same.

"What intrigues me is how the ink level detection works, because I couldn’t figure that out. I also can’t figure out why after refilling the sponge the printer still reports the ink level as low."
It's simply the printer knowing how much ink that it has printed since you first put the cartridge into it. The cartridge has a fixed volume so the firmware can easily predict the amount of ink left (assuming you don't refill it). If it automatically detects when you put a brand new one in, it's probably because the chip inside the cartridge has a different serial number or some such.

Don't do it. A mate of mine at work bought one of these, used it for like...a month, and never used it again. It's a great big gimmick, and you'll regret wasting your money. There's also lots of game compatibility issues and the drivers are unstable, so you'll be crashing a lot.

Technically the MOTM mods DO have veto power, but I guess they don't want to abuse it or something like that. It's mostly for when there's ties, or when you know that someone spammed the votes and so on.

srry: It's pretty much guaranteed that one of the two big parties makes it in the top job, but you can always vote for the independent parties for your local seat. Or them crazy Greens. There's about 5 out of the 80 or so seats currently in Australia that are not one of the two big parties.
That said, our politics is just as fucked up as America's, just on a smaller scale. They're using ammo such as "what to do with illegal immigrants" and "should gay marriage be allowed" (and other things with equally obvious solutions) to sway the mouth-breathing masses one way or the other.
In reality it's just a bunch of old geezers who have no idea how the modern world works getting way too much power and making stupid decisions that help nobody but themselves.
Actually, it sounds a lot like my job!
(For the record, the obvious solution for the immigrants is to give them a choice: go back to where you came from, or your boat will be shot out of the water. And I'm shocked that people are still debating gay marriage. Sigh.)
(Then you can drive 12 hours back north. Totally worth it!)
Also I think he's talking about Torchlight 2.
It says:
"The web page is on the list of websites with potentially dangerous content."
One day I'll finish TWHL4 and then it'll really be something to celebrate ^_^

Of course I would probably say that IE provokes the rage when I'm doing web development

Nope it isn't. It sounds great, though. Snown.
